New Book.

I haven't been able to put this book down. Read it. It is strange in so many ways, but fascinating and incredibly well written. I am always amazed by the ability of translators.

I'm off to check it out. I had a colleague in NYC who translated hip hop recordings from English to Japanese. I was always fascinated by the amount of skill it actually entailed; with so many idioms and expressions that don't fully translate it takes a well-versed, creative translator to produce a cohesive end product.

I so keep meaning to read his novels. They are always out at my local library but everyone whose reading tastes I trust love him!

It's my ex-roommate Adrienne's favorite book of all-time. I tried reading it years ago but couldn't get into it. I may give it another go. =)

I had mixed feelings about this book... I read it over a almost a year span. I couldn't get into it, at first... but by the end, I was hiding in the reading chair, ignoring phone calls and meal times.
