Wallpaper

I saw this amazing wallpaper on the great blog Indie Fixx. I really want to wallpaper a room now. I think I'd better do that when I have my own house. This is somewhat a blown up version of my problem with buying party dresses in anticipation of places I'd have to wear them, in which, I rarely do. Good thing I have a wedding this summer, so I can finally wear my Betsey Johnson party dress I bought a couple years ago. Anyways, now I am afraid I will start buying wallpaper for a house I have yet to own.

New Hound

I got a new hound today! He may not be one of my best finds, but there is something quirky about him! He may not be the same class as the Beswicks, but I think they will accept him.

Animal Kitchen

As you all know, I'm a little obsessed with animals. I have the hugest collection of Berkley Illustration prints. My latest obsession of animal related items are the animal kitchen utensils from Boston Warehouse. I have been collecting these for a couple of years when I first found the whale ice cream scoop. I now own: porcupine dish scrubber, parrot peeler, hippo clip, swordfish bread knife, elephant hook, beaver whisk, woodpecker scissors and the hummingbird cream cheese spreader. They have three different hummingbird ones. One of the ingenious things is that they have three hummingbird ones. Each hummingbird is a different utensil, such as real hummingbirds have species specific beaks. I REALLY want the skunk duster and peacock broom and dustpan.

New Echino!

This new echino came out a few months ago. I finally had time to make something with it. It took so long because I didn't really have enough fabric to do my usual pleated bags. The way the image is arranged on the fabric is different, since these are "cafe curtains" fabric. I just realized I should try a bag without pleats! I was really happy with how it looked. I think I will make some others.

I like

I like this t-shirt. It reminds me of the awesome geology/mineral exhibit at the Natural History Museum in NYC.

New Music

I rarely buy new music anymore. When I do, it's usually totally impulsive. Someone mentioned Charlotte Gainsbour's new CD and I immediately bought it. Afterwards, I realized it was produced with Beck. So far, I really like it.

Brooklyn

At the beginning of the month, I went for a road trip to Brooklyn to visit my sister. I had a great time. I even got to see my penpal Taina (http://taina.etsy.com). Here are some photos from the trip:

I was on a tight budget but I still made some purchases. I got some great shoes:

I also got a Brooklyn Industries purse and a Marc Jacobs' skirt. Spending a few days there really makes me want to reread A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (P.S.). That is one of my most favourite books, but I haven't read it in years.
Speaking of not doing something in ages... It's been awhile since I made a post and blogger is totally different, but it's for the better, I think.

YYZ Airport

I've realized how insanely I've neglected this blog. This was an insane past few months. Now things have settled and I can focus back on Etsy and thus the blog.
Here's a photo I took at the Toronto airport on my way home at xmas time. It was this incredible aquarium with floating rubber cubes. I could have watched it all day.
Hopefully I will have more interesting things to post about in the coming months. I'm hoping to get in a few more craft shows. I have some amazing new fabric that is waiting to be sewn. Oh and I'm going to Brooklyn this weekend. I'll have to post photos from there!

A New Hound

I got a new hound over the holidays while I was antiquing in my hometown. I don't think he's a beagle, but he was allowed in my collection because of his price. He might actually be my favourite one.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

I wasn't anticipating this movie nearly as much as Where the Wild Things Are. Mainly because I forgot it was coming out. Anyways, I LOVED it. I think it was better than Wild Things. I loved how you could tell it was so Wes Anderson. I really was not sure what to expect, but it was great. I especially loved the wall paper and and the textiles. Mrs. Fox had an awesome brooch. It's great. Go see it.

Alexis came for a visit (yay!) and she bought me these awesome glasses. She got them in Halifax by the artist Kyla Francis. I love them. I am also glad I don't sell glasses on Etsy as they are impossible to photograph. I really need to make a light box!

Paint By Number

I hate when fabrics become impossible to find anymore. I got this great paint-by-number fabric maybe a year ago. It started disappearing from all good fabric shops and the internet very quickly. Now I will occasionally find it online, but the price is super jacked up. I have been hoarding a few yards of it in green. The blue sold out even faster and I don't even know if I have a fat quarter left. Boo.

Red Is Best

Well, not really. I don't know how I end up with so much stuff in red. I really wanted these boots in greys, but they didn't have my size. I think I like these almost as much now. I'm happy to finally have cute rubber boots. I tried on some Hunters, but luckily they didn't fit right. I really did not want to spent $150 for some rubber boots.

I'm a pretty big fan of IKEA fabric at times. It always has some whacky prints and it's cheap. I love echino more, of course, but IKEA is about a third of the price. I bought the three above and can't wait to make some new stuff!

Faithbook

So for part of the week I get to hang out at a Catholic HighSchool. This brings back many terribly memories of my own grade seven to nine experience. Their uniforms are way better mainly because there are more options and they have kept the classic jumper. They also have a much more interesting Virgin Mary in one of their hallways. It is even more endearing because it has a "Sacred Area. No Loitering" sign by it. The craziest thing I did see what this poster for 'faithbook'. Very humorous and really strange. I actually don't really know what to think of it. This reminds me of the things I don't miss about Oklahoma.
